Phil was more than a great musician, he was an artist for the people. He was a devoted husband and dedicated worker. He realized that it simply felt good and fulfilling to help others: from raising money for various charities to rescuing drivers stuck in the snow, and even as simple as giving a homeless man literally the coat off his back. Helen Unger (nee Krumreig), 97, went to join her spouse of 67yrs. on Thursday October 1st. Beloved wife of the late Maynard "Doc". Loving mother of Clark Unger, Mary Arnold and Barbara Lengen. Proud grandmother of Heidi Arnold, Eric(Jodi) Arnold and Heather(Bryan) Near. Great-grandmother of Emma, Evan and Isabelle. Dear sister of Richard(Mary Jane) Krumreig and Mary Lou Bark. Aunt and great-aunt of many. Helen was a leader of the Campfire Girls and The Explorer Scouts. She was a child care provider and director at Lakewood Christian Church. She also sang in church choirs. She was active in the PTA at McKinley Elementary, and was part of the "Help Me Grow" program, along with her husband in Lakewood Schools. She also became part of the American-Ex POW program. Earl L. Miller

Earl Leo Miller, 91, longtime resident of Lakewood passed away peacefully on May 12, 2020 at the Normandy Care Center in Rocky River.  Born in Toledo on May 7, 1929 as the only child to the late Earl and Georgia (Whetslier) Miller, he was raised and educated attending Cincinnati schools.  Earl worked for many years as a door-to-door salesman selling magazine subscriptions until he entered the second part of his career.  He worked for the post office for nearly thirty years finally retiring in January 1993.  After retirement, Earl enjoyed the many quiet activities that life had to offer. 
Earl relocated to the Cleveland area in the early 1960’s, found love with his soulmate and was married in a simple ceremony on March 11, 1967.  A devout lifelong Lutheran, he was a member of the Good Soil Lutheran Ministries and lived with the Lord in his life.  As the patriarch of his family, Earl enjoyed stamp collecting, going to the movies, watching syfi and loved spending time playing board games with his grand children.  With a love for traveling, he would often take his family on many day and weekend trips.  Earl touched many lives in many different circles and will fondly be loved, cherished and missed by all.
Earl is survived by his beloved bride, Joyce Virginia (Meyer) Miller of Lakewood, with whom celebrated over 53 years of marriage together.  He is also survived by his two children; his son, Kurt Miller and his wife Jacqueline of Lakewood, and his daughter Kristina Ritley and her longtime companion Don Hamel of Shaker Heights.  Earl was the proud grandfather to his five grandchildren; Carolann Pickering, Kurt Miller Jr, Natasha Anderson, Sarah Ritley and Matthew Ritley and great-grandfather to Zoey and Alaina Miller and Aerith and Liam Pickering.  He is also survived by several in-laws and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Earl was predeceased by his stepmother Inez Miller, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
To honor Earl’s wishes, all services will be privately held.  A celebration of life will be held in Earl’s memory at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Earl’s memory to the Lakewood Community Services Center, 14230 Madison Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107.  Arrangements by Donlon Funeral Home, 15408 Triskett Rd, Cleveland, OH 44111.
