age 90. Beloved wife of Paul C. for 52yrs. Mother of Geoffrey Funk (Sue), Sandra Larkin (Mike) and the late Barbara Jean Code. Grandmother of four. Great-grandmother of five. Sister-in-law of Ted (Marie) Nyland. Former Fairview Park Councilman at large for ten years. Graveside services were held privately for the family at Lakewood Park Cemetery. Maxine M Schwartz

(nee Shirling) age 90, resident of Lakewood, passed away peacefully June 21, 2018 at the Gardens at Westlake Assisted Living with family by her side. Maxine was born September 19,1927 in Sunman Indiana to the late Earl and Helen (Wiley) Shirling. She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Wayne Shirling and David Shirling. Maxine graduated from Whitestown Indiana HS in 1945 and began her career as a medical secretary working for Indianapolis hospitals. She married the late William F. Schwartz IV of Chicago on April 25, 1959 and soon after began raising their family in Chicago and moved to greater Cleveland area in late 1960's. Maxine was a lovely, elegant, talented and caring person, a gifted pianist, avid basketball fan, loved to travel, volunteer and connect with friends and family on her computer. She had a sharp wit, keen sense of humor and a wonderful outlook on life. Her greatest joy was her family, friends and welcoming people into her home. Maxine had a strong faith, member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elyria, member of the choir, served as church organist and recently as a resident of Lakewood, became an active member at St Peter's Episcopal Church. She was a member of American Legion Women's Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star. Maxine was dedicated to the healthcare field, enjoyed her role managing the Outpatient Clinic at Elyria Memorial Hospital and continued to volunteer at area hospitals and clinics throughout her retirement. Maxine is survived by her son Bill (Shari) Schwartz of Powell Ohio and her daughter Susan (Ed) Rundell of Lorain Ohio as well as her grandchildren: Stefan (Natalie) Schwartz, Stu Schwartz, Scott Schwartz, Erica Bell, Stephanie Bell, Jack Bell and her great-grandchildren Vincent Bell and Jack Schwartz. Special thanks to the entire staff at Gardens at Westlake for providing excellent daily care and friendship to Maxine and to the Hospice of Western Reserve for their support. Born of  Elsie Emily Maria Pope and James McLelland.
Preceded in death by his wife Mary “May” Thompson  Kinnear.
Father of Lorne and Graeme, Grandfather of Catrina, John, William and Colin, Great grandfather of Sebastian, Ean and Madilynn.
Al was a Tool & Die maker apprenticed at Drysdale & Co. Yoker, Glasgow and Mason at Partick St. Mary’s Lodge No. 117.
He cycled professionally with Glasgow United C.C. and Queen City B.C., Toronto.
Became active in sports after retirement including cycling, golf, cc skiing and snowboarding and especially wind surfing.
Memorial service at 3:00 Saturday in Lakewood Presbyterian Church 14502 Detroit Ave.

October 19, 1921 - March 15, 2018. Was WWII Radio Operator on B-17, shot down over Germany, held POW in Stalag 17B for 22 months. Served in Air Force; taught ROTC at Case Western, Top Air Force Recruiter for NE OH 1961; retired as Chief Master Sergeant after 23 years. OH Veterans Hall of Fame, Class of 2005. Local Commander of American Ex-Prisoners of War from 1999-2001; State Commander 2005. Lakewood Schools Teacher for 13 years, Garfield Elementary (5th & 6th grade); Teacher of the Year 1972; Lakewood Schools Staff Hall of Fame 1992 (2nd class inducted). 50-year volunteer with Boy Scouts of America, serving as Scoutmaster, Cubmaster, Explorer Advisor, and District Commissioner. Honored with Silver Beaver and International Scouter's Award, Protestant Adult Scouter Award. Served twice as Wood Badge Course Director. Father of an Eagle Scout. Thirteen years teaching "Growing Healthy Together" in Lakewood. Lakewood Christian Church, Elder; Member, Old Stone Church (Presbyterian). Master Mason. Avid fisherman and bowler. Nuts about Buckeyes (the tree & the candy!). Married to Helen (nee Krumreig) for 67 years. Survived by wife, Helen; son Clark; daughters Mary and Barbara; grandchildren Heidi, Eric and Heather; great-grandchildren Emma, Evan and Isabelle; plus many nieces and nephews. Also sisters-in-law, Mary Lou and Mary Jane; and brother-in-law, Richard. Predeceased by brother, Howard; sisters-in-law Norma, Evelyn and Elaine; and brothers-in-law, Bill and Edward. Anthony Burke

(Tony), age 90, of Kirtland passed away peacefully at Chardon Healthcare Center on February 14, 2018. Born January 15, 1928 of the late Anthony and Viola (nee Koehnle) Burke, Tony was the devoted husband of Rita (nee Hynes) for over 67 years, loving father to Linda (Richard) Dugovic, Thomas (Marita) Burke and Richard Burke, beloved grandfather of 8 and great-grandfather of 2. Tony is also survived by his brother John (Irene) Burke and sister Marie (Dennis) Carey and many nieces and nephews. Tony and his Holy Name High School sweetheart Rita were married June 17, 1950. They built a home in Kirtland where they raised their family. Tony worked for the Lubrizol Corp. for 43+ years as a chemist in quality control, first in Painesville and then in Wickliffe. He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Lake Erie College, where he also studied art and developed his love of painting. Tony and Rita loved doing things together. Among them were bowling, round and square dancing, ceramics, and ushering at Playhouse Square. After Tony's retirement, they made many road trips out west and to the Carolinas. Tony enjoyed woodworking, turquoise jewelry making, antiques, was an avid fan of Notre Dame football and the ND Band, and he absolutely loved playing golf or watching golf on TV. He was an amazing "do it yourselfer", working on his own car repairs and anything that needed fixing in the home, and he passed many of those skills on to whoever wanted to learn them. He will be dearly missed. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday February 17, 11AM at St. Anselm Catholic Church 12969 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland. Marie Ina

Ms. Marie Theresa Ina,  beloved sister of George, Jeanette, and Donald Ina, passed away on January 27, 2018 in Westlake, Ohio due to complications from Congestive Heart Failure and Pneumonia, she was 82.

Ms. Ina was born on April 4, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio to her parents, Phillip and Ida Ina (now deceased). She graduated from St. Procop High School, Cleveland in 1954. Ms. Ina had careers in banking at Union Commerce Bank, and as a baker at Giant Eagle Supermarket. She retired in 2000 and dedicated her remaining time to reading as well as renovating her home in the Westpark area. Marie also had a deep affection for all dogs and especially Beagles.

Ms. Ina is survived by her brother Donald J. Ina of Littleton, Colorado, and her sister-in-law, Margaret Ina of Stow, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her brother George Phillip Ina; and her sister; Jeanette Veronica Ina.

A memorial will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 10:30 AM at Donlon Funeral Home at 15408 Triskett Rd, Cleveland, Ohio 44111  All are welcome to remember and celebrate Ms. Ina's life. Her ashes will be intered at Holy Cross Cemetery, alongside her mother.
