(Tony), age 90, of Kirtland passed away peacefully at Chardon Healthcare Center on February 14, 2018. Born January 15, 1928 of the late Anthony and Viola (nee Koehnle) Burke, Tony was the devoted husband of Rita (nee Hynes) for over 67 years, loving father to Linda (Richard) Dugovic, Thomas (Marita) Burke and Richard Burke, beloved grandfather of 8 and great-grandfather of 2. Tony is also survived by his brother John (Irene) Burke and sister Marie (Dennis) Carey and many nieces and nephews. Tony and his Holy Name High School sweetheart Rita were married June 17, 1950. They built a home in Kirtland where they raised their family. Tony worked for the Lubrizol Corp. for 43+ years as a chemist in quality control, first in Painesville and then in Wickliffe. He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Lake Erie College, where he also studied art and developed his love of painting. Tony and Rita loved doing things together. Among them were bowling, round and square dancing, ceramics, and ushering at Playhouse Square. After Tony's retirement, they made many road trips out west and to the Carolinas. Tony enjoyed woodworking, turquoise jewelry making, antiques, was an avid fan of Notre Dame football and the ND Band, and he absolutely loved playing golf or watching golf on TV. He was an amazing "do it yourselfer", working on his own car repairs and anything that needed fixing in the home, and he passed many of those skills on to whoever wanted to learn them. He will be dearly missed. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday February 17, 11AM at St. Anselm Catholic Church 12969 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Anthony at the DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306 just south of Mayfield Rd.) Friday 3-5 & 6-8PM.
