Margaret Mary Gatton was born in Elizabethtown, Ky on January 17, 1923 to Thomas Otho and Mary Olive Gatton. During WWII she went into nurses training. She met a good looking soldier who had been stationed at nearby Fort Knox. They married in August of 1946 and moved to his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.
Over the following years she had seven children and was kept quite busy raising them.
